Thermo Fisher is taking measures to cope with plasmid DNA demand fluctuations

Thermo Fisher will lay off its 74 employees by 31st May 2024 at its Plasmid Manufacturing Facility in California.

However, as per the reports, Thermo Fisher Scientific shall lay off its 74 employees working in the plasmid DNA manufacturing facility in Carlsbad, California. According to the reports, the fluctuation in demand is why Thermo Fisher took such a measure. This adjustment in staffing levels will result in job reductions across the plasmid business, affecting 74 employees. The separation process is scheduled for May 31, 2024, per the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act report submitted to California.

Despite these workforce adjustments, Thermo Fisher is committed to supporting its affected employees by providing job transition assistance during this transition period.

The future trajectory of the plasmid manufacturing lab is yet to be determined as Thermo Fisher continues to assess its options.
