In view of the increasing Europeanization of the valve market and stricter legislation, VDMA Valves is focusing on stronger networking and a bundled representation of interests at European level.
Frankfurt, February 11, 2025 – The valve industry wants to face future challenges together with European partner associations. By joining the European umbrella organization CEIR – Taps & Valves Europe, VDMA Valves is strengthening its influence in Brussels and focusing on greater European cooperation.
European cooperation as the key to securing the future
The growing importance of European regulations requires coordinated representation of interests. “Joining the CEIR is an important step for us,” explains Dr. Laura Dorfer, Managing Director of the VDMA Valves Association. “Together with the European taps and valves industry, we want to overcome regulatory challenges in the future, create synergies and tackle important issues such as the Drinking Water Directive, sustainability, dealing with PFAS and strengthening our industry in international competition. In this way, we are actively helping to secure the future of the valves industry in Europe.”
More influence and a stronger position in Europe

VDMA Valves is the network of manufacturers of building and industrial valves in the VDMA. It represents the interests of the valve industry at national and international institutions vis-à-vis authorities, supplier and customer organizations and influences technical regulations. With over 175 members, VDMA Valves represents an industry with an annual turnover of 12 billion euros and around 42,000 employees.
The VDMA represents 3600 German and European mechanical and plant engineering companies. The industry stands for innovation, export orientation and SMEs. The companies employ around 3 million people in the EU-27, more than 1.2 million of them in Germany alone. This makes mechanical and plant engineering the largest employer among the capital goods industries, both in the EU-27 and in Germany. In the European Union, it represents a turnover volume of an estimated 910 billion euros. Around 80 percent of the machinery sold in the EU comes from a manufacturing plant in the domestic market.
