- Over 300 high-risk self-harm cases were intervened in the past year
- 1,000+ potential incidents prevented with early counselling and follow-up
- LISSUN’s Omnichannel mental health model is now active in 40+ cities
Gurugram, 13th August 2025: LISSUN, one of India’s leading mental health platforms, has announced that it has provided comprehensive mental health counselling to over one lakh students across the country.
Origin of the Mission
This mission began in Kota, India’s coaching hub, where rising student suicides had created an urgent need for psychological intervention.
- January 2023: LISSUN launched the Emotional Wellness Camp in partnership with Career Point University, Kota.
- The camp marked the start of its on-ground mental health interventions for students in academic institutions.
- Current Situation: So far this year alone, Kota has reported 14 student suicide cases, highlighting the urgent need for proactive measures.
Supreme Court Ruling & Its Relevance
On 25th July 2025, the Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling addressing the growing mental health crisis among students in India.
Key points from the ruling:
- Recognition of psychological well-being as a constitutional right under Article 21.
- 15 binding directions for schools, colleges, hostels, and coaching centres — including:
- Mandatory counsellor appointments
- Visible helplines
- Standardised mental health policies
- NCRB data cited: 13,044 student suicides in 2022.
This verdict strongly aligns with LISSUN’s long-standing mission to integrate mental health support into education.

Long before the Supreme Court’s verdict, LISSUN had already been addressing this systemic gap.
